- Plain wooden chest for any period which I stained and managed to warp the lid when drying

- Cheap as … oven chip tray pieces for underlying mesh look

- A desperately uncreasable shiny pink fabric for more mesh look

- Layered on the chip mesh

- and then glued and painted at the same time the fabric, pressing it firmly into the under mesh

- Edged with painted straw hat braid but still warped in the lid.

- Weighted lid down over-night and now, of course, it doesn’t open.

- Fitted on a fabric top and more, unpainted, straw band.

- Was it worth two layers of weave effect? At the corners, certainly gives a good bent basket weave so overall, the answer has to be “yes” I think 😉
Getting to decision time in all the bedrooms for the wallpaper fixing. Possibly start in the boys’ bedroom as have a bit of a free hand and only the border needs matching up at the corners, thank goodness.

Aha, the oven chip tray is an invention for those who eat oven chips. Sold very cheaply in pound shop type emporia. I don’t use one for anything other than crafting so can’t say whether they do their job or not 🙂
PS: Sorry just realised should have said oven fries perhaps – does that make more sense? 🙂
