Curtain up on small bedroom

plus a few new bits added

The progress

After resting up the hand I jiggered I’ve just about re-acquired the use of my two opposable thumbs so had a go at ‘hanging’ the curtains and finishing off the small front bedroom

New bits

Bedroom of a teenage girl part II

The outfit(s)

If you’ve ever had a pet with black fur then you know how hard it is to get a photograph that either shows anything or only shows the bits stuck to the fur.  I have a vague memory of the eldest of us having trouble with bits sticking to her full circle black felt skirt.  It was very heavy I thought, but had a wonderful arrangement of three straw hats (in actual straw) arranged as a motif near the hem.  Lovely.

The room so far

Clutter building up, just waiting for a couple of shoe boxes and the curtain material, I think, oh and the lighting. Not sure about how empty the walls look but leaving them for the moment to think about it.

The small bedroom is at the top left, over the front door and we can see the dining room with the boys’ bedroom above still to be done

Outfit needed

Got back and knuckled down to do better.  I think this is better but is still in need of a further clean-up.  Also needs a dark red bandanna to knot casually around her neck and possibly red flat shoes to rock ‘n roll in.

All together a better size and group of colours used. Lots of stitching needed to get skirt to fall and not stand to attention. She’ll have to be patient for the scarf and footwear

I would like some of the things lying around this bedroom to tell the tale of the occupant, and to that end, fancied having some clothes she picked out that morning draped, waiting for her to go out with her friends that evening.

Am regarding today’s results as a ‘place holder‘ and hope to make it all up again but a bit bigger and with better edges too now that I’ve got a clearer idea of what will fit.  At the moment it looks 1:16 to fit the wardrobe rather than 1:12(ish) to fit the bed and house.

Should have stuck to the first thought which was a black felt circular skirt with a large motif, but was concerned about the bulk of felt not behaving nicely.
Will have a go with the felt next and see if it is as bad as feared. At least it will have non-fraying edges 😉

The top could be a little more fun and less pyjama looking too.

Off to do the shopping for the week but, as it’s a fairly lengthy journey, there’ll be plenty of time to muse on suitable fabrics.
