A work-around for the cake slice proximity fitting

The red and yellow arrows indicate the corners and the walls where the slice of movable house meets the fixed majority of house.
And it’s a tight-ish fit. I say tight-ish as it will take some thickness of wood but not much. This has meant that I can put a thin strip to represent the cornice at the top of the ‘party wall’ but can’t put in the thicker skirting board because of the corner near the dining room.
Not always visible
I had thought of mixing thick and thin according to where it would fit but suddenly decided to go for a bit of digital messing. We have a colour printer and a laser black but both have chosen this moment to play up; nevertheless I’ve gone for scanning in a length of the skirting, printing it out and bringing it up to some sort of compromise standard with paint.

- Painted thin card and skirt that was scanned. The print-out was entirely blue, which gave a good background to work on actually.

- With a closer look, the scanned image should have been treated a little more to get a sharper looking image, perhaps.

- Standing back – I think it will pass as long as it can withstand the comings and goings of the slice of house when it is parked up

Had another go at that hat and added edgings so it might be usable somewhere.

Meanwhile brooding on bathrooms
I’ve got this ‘thing’ going about the bathroom, in much the same way as I had about the kitchen decor. This time it’s about fixtures for the room. Why am I fussing about it now? I’d like to do the top landing, doorways and room floors, but in the bathroom that means I would like to know what is going where and what shape it is. All because I have this fancy to try to do a particular floor patterning in there. (More of that much, much later when the fittings are finally decided on.)
I love these items, their taps, shapes and general look, but, being 1:16 they’re much too small for this house and, sadly, look totally lost in the room space.
I’ve tried them in place at least half a dozen times, planned how to build up the black panelled bath without damaging it and so it will still be removable as is, but it still looks like a pimple in the wrong place. Learning as I go along doing mini-ing and having got away with using 1:16 and even 1:24 in a 1:12 space, it’s sad that it won’t work here particularly as there are so many lovely vintage items to be had. Not so far found a nice vintage one that comes up big or is 1:12.
I do like a particular set I’ve seen, but am uncomfortable about paying the big bucks it costs. I know I’ll end up buying it, and, at the rate I keep buying ‘possibles’ and finding out they don’t do the job either, I could have bought the more costly set by now! Going to have to take a deep breath and …
