The very odd chairs
Night-time and draw a veil on the discrepancies
They look like they could do with some cushions and I’m not happy about the starchy looking antimacassars so must wash them till they’re floppier.
Think I’ve worked out a way of doing the fourth wall so probably go on to making that and the doors next as the main task and mix and match with the cushion making and mushing up of antimacassars.
or lack of it
This Deco Semi needs most of its structurals doing in a oner. It takes elbow room both for the thing itself and for manoeuvring, measuring and cutting sheet materials. And free space is always needed for making, sticking, painting and drying areas – you name it. The last clean out just wasn’t good enough, thus I have spent lots of time sorting, (well sort of sorting) cleaning and rearranging almost every shelf, surface, drawer etc to make even more surface area available. My knees are now knackety and my vacuum cleaner clogged but I think I might be at an ‘on we go’ moment once more.
Room for one only in here though – visitations only in the doorway.
Time, how she flies!
Oops, missed the moment
Instead it turned out to be what is known around these parts as a deployment of “Distract-a-cat policies” (from when we used to have cats). Which translates well as “oh look, there’s a shiny thing”.
All gone now
Distracting me from?
- Putting together the rest of the shell of the building:
- the pieces are spread over the dining table (thank goodness for its existence) and they are awaiting all the battens to keep them square and straight – which have arrived so can’t put off much longer.
- Placing a third wall for the sitting room and the completion of the ceiling:
- been sneaking around it, doing a bit of the trim and clean of the existing ‘doings’ and prepping that third wall; just too chicken to put it in place at the moment. Either I’ll sneak up on it or it will sneak up on me.
Didn’t like the change from border to coving so added waxed string dark edging
Bit wobbly but also used string at edge of pelmet
And distracting with?
Crawling around and cleaning up had cleaned me out of umph and stiffened me up fit to be a scarecrow, so felt like sitting with needle and thread one morning.
Nothing fancy but it kept me merry for the morning.
Now gone quiet
I’m trying very hard to work out the furniture to go with those antimacassars.
