Do you remember this make-over?
While still waiting for the fat quarters I’d like to use for the bedroom curtains, I’ve moved on a little to the sitting room, first started much, much earlier in the year. I’m going to have a go at a make-over of a make-over.
I did this piece with the dining room in mind and then decided to use an original vintage miniature that I subsequently bid for and won. (See “A pinch of this and a bit of that” for the sideboard I did use).
Waste not want not
I have a fancy to use the sideboard that was discarded somewhere and think it might do well in the sitting room. Only thing is I’d like to add an upper, curved section to it that would represent a drinks cabinet. It’ll be non-opening but hopefully give added interest to the wall it will stand against and provide varied levels on which to put glassware, vases or photos that might fit the period.
Using a cut up cardboard cabinet that didn’t get used in the kitchen, the general idea is to have a three-door upper section with the same trim and handles and all (or most) of the bits to finish it are prepared. It looks a bit small but I think I’m sticking with it. Haven’t found an online photo to show you, but am using the cabinet we had in our sitting room when we were kids as a rough basis for the idea.
All the bits may well be more or less ready but unfortunately it’s going to go slowly as I’ve managed to distress my hands doing ordinary domestic things 😉 Silly me, should have stuck to the mini jobs.
